Ocala’s Nick Stilwell Wins Long Drive Championship.
Congratulations to Ocala’s Nick Stilwell.
Wednesday, September 4th, 2019, Nick won the Champions Trophy of the State Farm Para Long Drive competition at the WinStar World Resort and Casino in Thackerville, Okla.
Held in conjunction with the 44th World Long Drive Championship, where the longest hitters in golf convene to compete for the coveted World Championship title belts.
“I had such a great event last week and feel very blessed to have competed in the State Farm Para Long Drive competition.” Nick said. “I got first place in the amputee division!!!… can you believe it?,” mentioned in a very excited voice.
Almost more than winning the championship, Nick went on talking about meeting all the Pro Long Drivers and some true Legends in the Game.
Nick is the Co-Founder with his partner Regas Woods, of a foundation in Ocala, Florida called “Never Say Never.” Ironically, Nick met Regas at Nick’s first prosthetic appointment, where Regas actually fabricated Nick’s first set of legs after Nick’s near fatal car accident. Regas helped lift Nick’s spirits, showing him that there “IS” life after amputation and that anything is possible with determination and the right mind set. Facing new obstacles physically, and mentally, Nick asked Regas to join forces to help amputee children who face these same problems. Never Say Never Foundation was created to instill a positive and active lifestyle in kids with limb loss, all the while pushing their limits of adaptive sports and redefining what is thought to be possible!
Believing in himself and taking on the moto from his own foundation… Nick reacted to the win with, “I can’t wait until next year…” “Never Say Never!” Nick’s winning performance posted a 306-yard drive.
“Anyone interested in Longdrive or golf in general for limb different kids and teens, please reach out :-). Let’s help grow this sport and community because the Longdrive community is the BEST!”
